They are finding more shrimp in the area. The positive side is you can still eat them and they are a lot lager then normal shrimp. The down side is they are not native to these waters and may provide a future problem in the waters to the local shrimp. A similar story maybe the Asian carp which may reach the Great Lakes through the rivers and has caused problems to the local natural wildlife. Tiger shrimp and jumbo prawns in general can be cannibalistic, this could become a problem for the smaller shrimp and larvae. Unfortunately, time will only tell and hopefully it will not take away from one of local dishes from the sea.
